Between mid-2006 and early 2013, Studio California was licensed to build Rickenbacker acoustic guitars in our own facilities. under this licensing arrangement, roughly 40 Rickenbacker acoustics were handmade, one at a time, using original guitars for reference, new patterns made in our shops, taking great care, and making small improvements all through the run of instruments. Because of the handmade nature of these guitars, there was a substantial backorder situation throughout the license period, with the result that the last guitars weren't completed until 2017.

Below is an overview of a number of these guitars. No two were the same in colors and appointments, although the construction remained consistent with a few upgrades over the years. After the licensing period ended, I was given generous permission to continue to build the identical range of guitars under my own brand, "Madeleine Strings".

Madeleine was my first granddaughter, who was born in 2011 with HLHS, and lived a short two months. For each Madeleine Strings instrument built, $250.00 is donated to an HLHS research program. See the "Madeleine Strings" pages of this website, under the "Other Projects" pull-down menu.
